A film that made you cheer in the cinema...
Now I'm sorry, but I really can't stand cheering in the cinema.
I get that people are excited about the film - I get that completely, because I wouldn't be in the cinema with you if I wasn’t excited too - but please, do not cheer! It makes me want to do this...
I have only ever really come across cheering in the cinema in the US before this... but I have noticed it has started to creep into cinemas in the UK... and usually only when Avengers is involved. And even then it's only ever restricted to the midnight showings.
A friend and I went to see the Captain America trilogy where we encountered our first out-loud cheerers. I tutted and told them to be quiet under my breath because the reason it's annoying is because you can't hear what's being said next (which in Marvel is usually important) and it's not as if you can just ask the cinema staff to rewind the movie 30 seconds.
The second time was on Avengers: Infinity War. I admit, even I was close to cheering out loud, but what I found most hilarious was that someone three rows ahead of us just shouted, "What the Fuck" when it finished... I admit, I was thinking that too.
Now... I think you can sense when the next time was. Yep. Avengers: Endgame. It started off badly, with someone sat two rows in front of us shouting 'WE'RE IN THE ENDGAME NOW' really loud before the movie even started, but you know what... this time? I went with it.
I didn't cheer (or at least I don't think I did) but I have to admit, a little WHOOP did escape my lips when Cap says 'Avengers Assemble'... because I mean... WHAT A LINE. WHAT. A. LINE.
So yeah, I'd say it was Avengers. I think it's to do with the fact everyone else was cheering as well. When it's just one person it's annoying... but when the whole cinema is cheering, it's hard not to get swept up.
But as a parting note. Please refrain from cheering. You are having fun - I get that, believe me, so am I - but if you start cheering, you're ruining the film for other people most of the time because you can't hear what's being said. Save the outward excitement for when you have the DVD and can pause and rewind to your heart's content.
Okay rant over.
Everybody watch Avengers. Okay bye.
