So this week I have a guest... and it's someone with one of the greatest tastes in music ever. I've learnt a few things from her music-wise over the years (and other stuff too). But this week's tracks belong to one of my best friends, Sarah.

Sarah and I have been friends since we were about 5, so we're coming up to a 23 year friendaversary, which is exciting in itself.

The playlist is here, and you guys are SERIOUSLY in for a treat because these are all so great! https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5uvGPB5HsOhdICfOxGVqDZ?si=yzIM60VJS8-YvRXOmEagXg

The commentary is all Sarah, so... take it away bestie!

NUMBER 10.

Only You - Yazoo

This was my first dance with my husband at my wedding. Yes, I make myself sick too but there is no one I’m more grateful to during lockdown and this song makes me think of him and smile!

NUMBER 9.

Zombie - Jamie T

Purely on here because it’s been in my head for days. Previously one of my favourite work songs but I haven’t worked out since Boris made me stay inside. Thanks for the 25 extra lbs Boris.

NUMBER 8.

Mercy - Muse

My favourite song at the moment! I put it on while doing my make up and belt it out, much to the delight of my cats.

NUMBER 7.

Valentine's Day - David Bowie

My dad was, and is, a huge influence on my music taste and we share a love of David Bowie. This is one of his more recent songs and I love it! The topic of the song is someone macabre but I love Bowie’s energy in this. The world lost a legend in 2016.

NUMBER 6.

Be Calm - fun.

Also one of my favourite songs of the moment. I like having it on in the car on the way into work. As a naturally quite anxious person this song reminds me to take a moment and breathe!

NUMBER 5.

Something - The Beatles

Again, a band that my dad and I have a love for in common. We saw Paul McCartney in December 2018 who is someone I’ve always dreamed of seeing live (Ringo came on stage too!), but this song was written by my favourite Beatle, George Harrison. I think it’s the most beautiful love song I’ve ever heard.

NUMBER 4.

Dance, Dance - Fall Out Boy

Fall Out Boy are the greatest band in existence and nothing no one ever says will ever change my mind. This song reminds me of being young and allows me to forget my aching bones for 4 sweet minutes and 38 sweet sweet seconds.

NUMBER 3.

Paper and Glue - Helen Chambers

Helen Chambers was a random warm up act I once saw as a student and I think her voice is absolutely enchanting. I love this beautiful song.

NUMBER 2.

Where You Are - Moana

Is this Lin Manuel Miranda’s greatest musical ever written? Most people will tell you no but does Hamilton have Dwayne The Rock Johnson in?

NUMBER 1.

Dancing in the Moonlight - King Harvest

My dad‘s got loads of shout outs so far, so here’s one to my mum! We used to dance to this together in the kitchen when I was a little girl :)

BONUS 1.

King of Spain - The Tallest Man on Earth

Yeah, I just want to go on holiday. Maybe not to Spain though.

BONUS 2.

Christmas TV - Slow Club

We’re closer to Christmas 2020 than Christmas 2019 therefore it’s okay to listen to Christmas songs right? Here’s a beautiful non-Christmassy Christmas song.

***

Told you Sarah's taste in music is amazing, and with not one but TWO bonuses, it really is a treat! :) And even though I've known her so long, she still teaches me a few things about music!
