Told you it wouldn't be two months before you saw another playlist. And this week's is a bit more varied... well, varied for me.
We've been watching a lot of Downton recently so I haven't really been watching films... I'm getting behind on my film tracker but Josie is away next week so I can watch all the ones I've been craving to watch while she's not here! And with the cinemas being open, I can finally get some new soundtracks under my belt. Although the two films I'm seeing this week are Batman Begins and Empire Strikes Back, both of which I've seen... but anyway.
This week's playlist is here: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5uvGPB5HsOhdICfOxGVqDZ?si=KoYkQPgfSQ6TySEiPEX4Ow
NUMBER 10.
Kiss The Girl - Samuel E. Wright

The Little Mermaid isn't my favourite but I do like this song. I love Sebastian though. He's probably one of my all-time favourite animal sidekicks, after Maximus in Tangled or Sven in Frozen. I need to revisit The Little Mermaid actually. I haven't seen it in YEARS.
NUMBER 9.
Mommy - Danny Elfman

This is little Black Beauty and Mommy in the film. My plan some day is to try and write from a horse's point of view, but I need to get my head around it. But the music to Black Beauty is absolutely beautiful. I've done a track before - Memories I think - and I love the piano in this and how gentle but playful it is.
NUMBER 8.
Surrender - Natalie Taylor

This is a TikTok song and I love it. It always goes with a sad or emotional story and it aaaaaaaalways makes me well up and/or cry without fail.
NUMBER 7.
Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger - Daft Punk

Who doesn't love this song? Daft Punk are epic and although this one isn't my favourite - the soundtrack to Tron: Legacy is - it's an iconic one. I even like the Kanye West one that incorporates it. There are so many remixes of it as well, but you have to go with the original.
NUMBER 6.
Lost in the Wild - Walk the Moon

Yes I was one of the many millions of people last weekend that took to Netflix and watched this 80 times and yes it's not great but it is SO GOOD at the same time. It's exactly what you expect from a teen romcom and the storylines are cute, the characters are fun and the dance is cool. This song is what Elle and Marco dance to, and it was a lot easier to find than the song Elle and Noah kissed to in the first movie. Netflix thought that through this time!
NUMBER 5.
Stand By Me - Bootstraps

This film is utterly terrible but the songs in it are good. This one included. Not wanting to ruin it, it's a sad part - a very sad part because it happens to the most lovable character - and this is the song that plays when they're all reeling. And yes it is a version of Stand By Me by Ben E. King but I think this version works so well for the scene it accompanies.
NUMBER 4.
We Belong - Dove Cameron

So. The second After movie, After We Collided got its trailer - FINALLY - the other day. This was the song played within it, and I'm guessing it'll feature at some point in the movie too. I do like the first film, as far as it goes, but I was disappointed it wasn't more like the book. The book isn't tame at all, unlike the film, but from the state of the trailer I think the fans are going to get a lot more of what they wanted from the books... A lot more...!
NUMBER 3.
Main Title - Cliff Eidelman

This particular Main Title (one of many many Main Titles I have in my ever-growing Spotify playlist) is from Free Willy 3. And yes there are 3 of them. Josie and I love the Free Willy movies, as lame as that sounds. Bad haircuts and all. I've only really heard the Main Titles to each of the three (I've never seen the 4th one) but I love this one most because it sounds so playful, just like Willy!
NUMBER 2.
I Could Have Danced All Night - Faultline

This is in the new Audi advert and thankfully this time I was quick enough with SoundCloud to find out what song it is. The poor Audi though... I mean look at all the seaweed hanging off it! Quite a lot of car adverts have great songs, but this one still isn't my favourite. Stay tuned for that one... It's a good'un!
NUMBER 1.
Coming Back Around - John Powell

John Powell is a musical genius. And the How To Train Your Dragon movies are the BEST animation movies in history (sorry Disney but they are). The music speaks through the dragons and you can hear their anger, their sadness, their happiness and their fear inside the music and it's SO GOOD. This one in particular is the last track of the first movie where Hiccup wakes up after defeating a huge dragon only to find dragons have moved in... and you can hear the happiness in it in the fact that "All it needed was a little bit of this..." > "You just gestured to all of me!" Ugh, God I just love these films.
***

So there we have it. Another 10 songs to listen to. Why did I ever stop doing these? How dare I get so busy?
Well, next week you're in for a treat. It's a guest appearance and you will NOT be disappointed!
